A show by Vincent Glowinski & Jean-François Roversi
Since 2008, street artist Vincent Glowinski (aka Bonom) has been collaborating with video-maker Jean-François Roversi on a performative transposition of his urban frescoes. In half-light, a dancer-illustrator moves around a large dark surface. He’s completely covered in white, and dimly lit with black lights.
He is filmed from above: the camera records his flow and every movements on the ground. The moving images are processed in real-life to appear and remain on a screen.
Under our eyes, a form slowly beings to emerge. It’s the very picture of his traces on the ground that were accumulated over time. Following postures and series of movement, the silhouette of the body, in upward view, becomes a multi-form calligraphic tool.
Another way to understand the process is to compare it with a photographic film: we are invited to see the photo processing as the image slowly appears under the light.
We are given the chance to visualise the latent photographic image under construction.
Human Brush is a site specific short piece that can be adapted for theatres and outdoor spaces. Music is performed live by Eric Desieux.
