Matamatá et La vie n’est pas utile (ou c’est comme ça) forment un diptyque.
Ce diptyque est la production de deux œuvres chorégraphiques qui se complètent et se complexifient, comme deux images photographiques mises l’une à côté de l’autre. Diptyque est un projet composé d’une pièce chorégraphique pour trois interprètes et un solo conférence dansée. C’est le déploiement de la recherche infinie de Bruno vers et autour du merveilleux.
Face au zeitgeist de notre époque, la catastrophe climatique, la mort imminente de la plus grande forêt tropicale de la planète, je me questionne en tant qu’artiste chorégraphique : Est-ce qu’on sera capable de reboiser/replanter, devenir forêt avec nos corps et nos villes, comment allons-nous chercher de la joie et du plaisir et ne pas tomber dans l’angoisse mélancolique et éco-climatique ? Comment faire une danse pour « retarder la fin d’un monde » ?
Nous partons de fabulations corporelles pour faire danser les pensées des spectateur·rices.

Et si Descartes ou Spinoza avaient visité la forêt tropicale brésilienne ? C’est en partant de ce rêve d’un philosophe confronté à un autre environnement qui met ses pensées en faillite que le poète brésilien Paulo Leminski a composé le poème ou romance-idée Catatau. En arrivant à la mata atlantique où tout est étonnant, où il y a une profusion abondante de vie, où la chaleur et les pensées des bêtes transforment ce qui constitue leurs corps ; trois danseurs chuchotent, chantent et mangent . Un mélange de voix, un métissage des gestes, de corps qui partagent un plateau, qui deviendra la forêt de notre inconscient.

Reflorestar-Reboiser-Rewild
Ce laboratoire dansé est une brève collection de pratiques somatiques qui veulent nous aider à re-regarder les arbres, les parcs, le peu de forêt qui nous entoure, à travers le mouvement. Écouter les sons des machines urbaines, des eaux, des oiseaux, des arbres, des plantes, la pollution sonore et la biosphère qui nous entoure, ici à Bruxelles. Faire une danse avec ou pour les arbres, sous ou pour la pluie. Douter de l’utilité de nos gestes, de là où nous posons notre attention. Expérimenter une autre temporalité à travers la marche, la danse et à travers nos rêves. Rêver de faire une danse. Suivant la convocation faite par Eliane Brum de « s’amazoniser », dans son dernier livre Banzeiro òkòtô ; Bruno Freire nous invite à marcher avec cette question, là où sommes-nous, pour commencer à reboiser nos perceptions. Pour rappeler que même s’il n’est pas possible de devenir l’Amazonie d’ici, nous pouvons essayer de ré-ensauvager/reboiser nos corps, nos pensées et notre perception.

Matamatá and Life is not useful (or it what it is) form a diptych.
This diptych is the production of two choreographic works that complement and complexify each other, like two photographic images placed side by side. Diptych is a project at the crossroads of theatre, dance, literature and visual arts, consisting of a piece for three performers (“Matamatá”) and a solo conference ("Life is not useful or It is what it is). It is the deployment of my infinite search towards and around the marvellous.
Faced with the zeitgeist of our time, the climate catastrophe, the imminent death of the largest tropical forest on the planet and other challenges, as a choreographic artist I ask myself : Will we be able to reforest/replant, to become a forest with our bodies and our cities, how are we going to find joy and pleasure and not fall into melancholic and eco-climatic anguish ? How can we make a dance to delay the end of a world ?
We start from bodily fabulations to perhaps make the audience’s thoughts dance.

What if Descartes or Spinoza had visited the Brazilian rainforest ? Brazilian poet Paulo Leminski’s Catatau poem or romance-idea is based on this dream of a philosopher confronted with another environment that bankrupts his thoughts. Arriving at the Atlantic mata where everything is astonishing, where there is an abundant profusion of life, where the heat and thoughts of the beasts transform what constitutes their bodies ; three dancers whisper, sing and eat . A blend of voices, gestures and bodies sharing a stage that becomes the forest of our unconscious.

Matamatá en Life is not useful (or it what it is) vormen een diptyque.
Dit diptyque is de productie van twee choreogafische werken die elkaar aanvullen en compliceren zoals twee fotografische beelden naast elkaar geplaatst.
Diptique is een project bestaande uit een choreogafisch stuk voor drie performers en een solo-dansconferentie. Dat is de ontplooiing van mijn oneindige zoektocht naar het wonderbaarlijke.
Geconfronteerd met de zeitgeist van onze tijd, de klimaatcatastrofe, de dreigende dood van het grootste regenwoud op de planeet, als choreograaf vraag ik mij af zouden we in staat zijn onze lichamen en steden te herstellen tot een bos ?
Hoe kunnen we vreugde en plezier vinden en niet vervallen in melancholische en eco-klimatologische angst ?
Hoe kunnen we een dans maken om het einde van de wereld uit te stellen ?
We gaan uit van lichamelijke verzinsels om te proberen de gedachten van de toeschouwers te laten dansen.
